Seven Killed, 26 Injured in Road Mishap

Guwahati, April 16: At least seven people were killed and 26 others injured in different road mishaps in Assam in the last 24 hours.

According to report, four people died on the spot and 17 others were injured in a tragic road accident near Kaziranga National Park (KNP) on the wee hours of Monday, police said.

The accident took place on NH-37 at Bosagaon near KNP, in which a tourist bus travelling from Tinsukia to Guwahati collided with a truck, in which four passengers died on the spot and 17 others were injured.

After the accident, the bus caught fire, police added.

The injured people have been rushed to nearby hospitals.

In another accident, two people were killed in a road mishap at Takaubari near Gahpur in the Sonitpur district.

The deceased were identified as Rashmi Hazarika and Roop Kishor Hazarika.

In the Nagaon district on Monday morning, a person identified as Amit Jyoti Hira killed and four others were injured in an accident on NH-37 at Bebejia.

The inured persons were admitted at Nagaon civil hospital.

In Barpeta district, five people were injured when a weeding bus fell from the highway after lost the control at Haladhia village near Kalgasia on Monday morning.
