Nine Killed as Storm Lashes Assam

At least nine people including three kids were killed and seven others injured in separate incident as severe storm lashed Assam on Thursday night, police said.

Reports says six people including three child were killed and seven others injured, several houses damaged when devasting storm lashed the Dhubri district.

In Bilashipara of Dhubri district, five people were also killed and two others injured.

The victims were identified as Jamirul Ali (3 yr), Moriam Khatun (6 yr), Nezamul Haque (9 yr), Kashem Ali (70 yr) and Marzina Bibi (22 yr).

The injured persons had rushed to local hospital.

Apart from Bilashipara, one people was killed in Fakirganj area in the same district.

Meanwhile, three people were killed and five others were injured when storm lashed in Barpeta and Kamrup (Rural) district in the wee hours of Friday.

The storm lasted for an hour and destroyed hundreds of houses and more than 30 villages were ravaged in different parts of the state.
