NDFB Militant Killed, Two Injured in Assam Gun Battle


A hardcore militant of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Sangbijit faction) was killed and two others were injured in a gun battle with security forces in Assam’s Sonitpur district along with Arunachal Pradesh border on Saturday, police said.

The incident took place at Jothaipur area near Dhekiajuli along Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on Saturday, where the militant was killed and two others injured.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and army launched an operation in the remote area, where a militant group was hiding.

“When troops reached the area, the militants started fire and forced us to exchange bullets,” a top police official said.

A militant was killed on the spot and two others were injured.

The deceased militant was identified as Mangal Narzary.

Other militants had managed to flee from the area and entering in Arunachal Pradesh.

Top police and army official had rushed to the area and launched an operation against the militants.

Security forces also recovered two hand grenades in the Masulpur area of the Baska district on Friday.

On Thursday, police recovered two pistols, and explosives from Chaigaon area in Kamrup (Rural) district.
