Huge Cache of Arms and Ammunition Recovered in Assam

Security forces on Friday recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition including sophisticated weapons belonging to a Kuki outfit group in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district, police said.

Based on an intelligence report, Karbi Anglong district police had launched a search operation in Singhasan hill area in the district and found a huge cache of arms and ammunition which were buried underground at Klumphai.

“The recovered arms and ammunition were buried underground by Kuki revolutionary Army (KRA),” Karbi Anglong SP BB Chetry said.

Police recovered two M-16 rifles with two magazines, one point 22 rifle, one point 32 rifle with magazine, one SBBL gun.

Meanwhile, miscreants fled with 2.60 lakh rupees cash after they shot a Gaon Panchayat secretary at Agyathuri area near Guwahati on Friday.

“A six member miscreant group shot a Gaon Panchayat secretary under Hajo development block in Kamrup (Rural) district and fled with 2.60 lakh rupees cash which was the development fund,” a police official said.

The injured person was rushed to Guwahati Mediacal College Hospital (GMCH).

Senior police official rushed to the spot and launched a search operation to nab the miscreants.
