Four NDFB and GNLA Militants Arrested in Assam

Guwahati, April 2: Security forces apprehended four hardcore cadres of anti-talk faction group of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) and Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) in Assam’s Kokrajhar and Goalpara district on Tuesday, officials said.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint police and army team launched a search operation in the Kachigaon area in Assam’s Kokrajhar district and apprehended the militants.

Security forces recovered two hand grenades, one pistol, two magazines, 11 rounds of live ammunition and Rs 25000 cash in possession of them.

“Based on intelligence reports, the troops apprehended the militants, who were hiding in the area,” a top police official said.

The militants were identified as Saumaram Brahma alias Kameswar and Praneswar Brahma.

In another area, the army nabbed two GNLA militants in the Khermorhar area under Krishnai police station in Goalpara district along the Assam-Meghalaya border on Tuesday.

The apprehended militants were identified as Munna D Changma and G Momin and security forces recovered two pistols from them.

In the last week, an area commander of the outfit group was killed in a gun battle with security forces in the district.

The Garo outfit group and anti-talk faction United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) had jointly set up at least ten camps in bordering areas of Meghalaya and Bangladesh.
