Four Killed in Kokrajhar Attack

The trouble torn Assam’s Bodoland Territorial Autonomous District (BTAD) witnessed again fresh violence as miscreants killed four people in Kokrajhar district on Friday night, officials said on Saturday.

The incident took place at Jiaguri under Lakhiganj police station in the district around 11 pm on Friday, where four persons of a family including a child and a woman have died and two others injured in miscreants attack.

Death toll rose to 15 after fresh violence started in BTAD since November 10.

Meanwhile, security forces arrested Monu Kumar Brahma, an Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) from his residence in Kokrajhar in connection with the recent killings.

“The Executive Member was arrested in connection with the recent killings and recovered two AK-47 rifles with magazine, 60 rounds of live ammunition from his residence,” Assam Police IGP GP Singh said.

Army has staged flag march in new violating areas in Kokrajhar, Gosaigaon on Saturday.

65 para military companies had been deployed in trouble torn areas in BTAD areas so far.

Meanwhile, Assam state government on Saturday has asked the Union government to deploy more campanies of para military force in BTAD.

Security forces recovered two crude bombs from Dhubri and arrested three persons on Saturday.

The bombs were recovered from Dharmasala area.

The nabbed persons were identified as Abdul Majid, Abdul Ahmed and Ajijur Sheikh.
