Guwahati, December 27: Security forces apprehended five persons, including a cadre of HNLC outfit group and recovered a huge quantity of explosives from Assam’s Dima Hasao district on Thursday, officials said.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Assam Rifles and police launched a search operation at the Jatinga area of the hill district and apprehended the people and recovered huge quantity of explosives, who were traveling in a SUV on the way to Silchar from Haflong.
Security forces recovered seven detonators, eight gelatin sticks, five mobile phones from their possession.
“One of the nabbed persons is a cadre of Meghalaya based insurgent group Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC),” a top police official said.
Police also nabbed a militant and recovered one pistol and ammunition from the Dhubri district on Thursday.
