Family of Slain FCI Official Challenges CBI Report

The family of the slain Executive Director (Northeast) of Food Corporation of India (FCI) filed a petition in a court in Assam against the CBI closure report in the murder case.

Questioning the closure report filed by the CBI in the murder case of PC Ram, son of the slain senior executive of FCI Praveen Kumar Gautam filed a petition in the court of special judicial magistrate in Guwahati on Thursday.

PC Ram was abducted from Guwahati on April 18, 2007 and was killed in a crossfire between security forces and the militants of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) at Borka village in Assam’s Kamrup district on July 11, 2007.

Reports say CBI submitted closure report to the court, but there were no further probe in the murder case because of insufficient evidence.

“I appealed to the court to reject the closure report submitted by the CBI, because I am not satisfied with the investigation,” Praveen Kumar Gautam said.

Ram’s son alleged that there have enough evidence in the case for trying the accused persons, but CBI had ignored it.

Praveen’s counsel Nekibur Zaman also allged that a powerful lobby including senior officials of police were trying to unearth the actual picture in the murder case.
