Eight Persons Injured in Congress-AIUDF Clash

At least eight persons were injured during the clash between the supporters of ruling Congress and the main opposition party All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) in Assam’s Nagaon district on Sunday, officials said.

According to reports, the clash between the supporters of the two political parties took place at Kachua area under Raha assembly constituency in the district where eight people of both parties were injured and three vehicles were reportedly damaged.

The president of AIUDF and MP Badaruddin Ajmal delivered his speech in the election rally at Kachua as part of the campaign programme for the incoming panchayat poll in the state.

“After the rally, a bike rally launched by the supporters of Congress and paraded their slogans against the AIUDF,” a district administration official said.

The situation was uncontrollable when the other party started to retaliate, the official said.

During the clash, at least eight people were injured.

The security forces were dispersed to control the situation.

The injured persons were admitted to Nagaon civil hospital.
