Dissident Congress MLA’s Plan to Oust Assam Chief Minister

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has faced a new problem from the dissident group of Congress MLAs ahead of the mark of the second anniversary of Congress led Assam state government’s third consecutive term.

A top source said 35 members of a dissident group of Congress MLA’s had visted New Delhi on Monday and they will meet with UPA chairman Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and will plan to change the leadership of the state government.

“We are not satisfied with the works of several ministers of the state government and it is necessary to reshuffle the ministry as soon as possible,” Congress MLA Chandan Sarkar said.

Meanwhile, the Assam CM Tarun Gogoi on Monday said three dissident Congress MLA groups are active in the state.

“There are several dissident groups active in the state and these groups have been led by Assam Education minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, vetern Congree MLA Sarat Borkotoky and Anjan Dutta,” the Assam CM said.

Assam CM adds it is the usual issue of dissatisfaction of the MLA’s as the Congress had won 79 seats in last assembly poll.

“If Congress high command ordered for my termination, I will leave then,” Gogoi said.

Recently, AICC general secretary Parvez Hasmi visited Assam and met with the dissident group.
