By-Poll Election Results – Wake Up Call to All

Nitish Kumar was hailed as the best performing CM in Bihar not by his supporters but by his critics as well including Rahul Gandhi himself during the last elections. Nitish was elated and the results in last general elections proved Rahul Gandhi was right, when he white washed RJD-LJP combine.

Everyone in Bihar thought, the days of Lalu and Paswan were over. Even Lalu himself felt so. But never say die attitude and fighter in him, proved his detractors wrong. Lalu Prasad continued his association with Paswan’s LJP and won 8 of 16 Assembly seats, leaving Nitish Kumar high and dry for JD(U)-BJP could win only five and the rest going to BSP one and Congress two. Lalu and Paswan have every reason to be happy after their performance.

Lalu in particular said that this was only a semi-final and in the next year final, he will have more crackers to fire than he did yesterday.

Lalu in particular said that this was only a semi-final and in the next year final, he will have more crackers to fire than he did yesterday. “Everyone was saying Lalu is going, Lalu did not, and will never go anywhere,” said Lalu Yadav, RJD chief.

Laluji, don’t be complacent; one swallow cannot make a summer. You have miles to go before you can upset the apple cart of Nitish Kumar.

Obviously, Nitish Kumar was upset but putting up a brave front, he said, such ups and downs were part and parcel of political life. In any case, it was a wakeup call to Nitish Kumar that he should not rest on past laurels, but continues to deliver till the last day in office. These alone would ensure his stay as well as his return in the next elections.

Elsewhere in Delhi, Sheila Dixit lost two seats to BJP. This is also a wakeup call for the three time winner Sheila Dixit that voters were watching her performances and any slip here and there in any action concerning people, would be felt in such elections. Better wake up and continue to deliver what she has promised to the people.

The by-election results may not necessarily be an indicator of anti-incumbency factor or a change of mood of the electorates. It only indicates that local factors do play a vital part in deciding the fate of the contestants.

All said and done, it’s a real wake up call to many and Congress in particular as it is facing challenges in the next month’s elections in Maharashtra and other states. People would vote only to performing governments is very clear. Keep performing for the welfare of the people; Congress is sure to win along with its allies. Jai Hind.
