Bomb Recovered, NSCN(IM) Militant Arrest in Assam

Guwahati, April 16: Security forces recovered one bomb, gelatin sticks, bomb making equipments and extortion notes of Paresh Baruah led anti-talk faction group of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) during a search operation in Assam’s Sivasagar district on Monday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Assam police officers raided at Lukhuragaon under Sonari police station in the district, where a 10 member group of ULFA were taking shelter at a house.

“We launched an operation at the area, but the militants managed to escape. We recovered one bomb, gelatin sticks, fuse wires, bomb making equipments and some extortion notes of the outfit group from the spot,” a senior police official said.

Security forces arrested the house owner Nidhiram Arandhara.

“The group led by senior ULFA leader Pradip Gogoi entered in the state from Myanmar in last week to carry out some activities,” intelligence report said.

A recent input provided by Intelligence Bureau (IB) alert Assam government and security forces that ULFA and Maoist will be carried out some unlawful activities in the state.

In other hand, security forces arrested a cadre of NSCN(IM) at Haflong in Dima Hasao district on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Assam police and Assam Rifles launched a search operation at Lungiram Basti near Haflong in the hills district and arrested a cadre of NSCN(IM), police said.

The nabbed militant was identified as Kiseluing Jeme.

Security forces recovered two Chinese grenades, 14 rounds live ammunition, two mobile handsets with SIM cards and an extortion note from his possession.
