Bodies of Two Abducted Teachers Found Along Assam-Meghalaya Border

The bodies of two abducted teachers were found at a hills area in Assam’s Goalpara district along with Assam-Meghalaya border on Saturday morning, police said.

The bodies were recovered from a hillside area at Mainamati Kasumari, near Krishnai, in the district.

“We had found the bodies of the abducted teachers from the hill side area where the bodies were buried,” a police official said.

The teachers were identified as Kameswar Rabha and Charit Rabha. They were abducted by suspected militants on May 13.

Family members of the two men lodged their whereabouts at Agia police station on next day, but police had failed to trace them.

In the past forty-seven days, severalRabha community organizations protested against the alleged kidnapping of the two teachers. The organizations urged Goalpara district to block the roads and demanded the release the abducted teachers.
