Assam State Faces Severe Power Shortage

Under the severe power crisis the lifeline have been totally paralyzed in Assam.

Disruption the 400 KV Binaguri-Bongaigaon circuit in Assam and West Bengal, the state faced severe power shortage which has started last week.

Consumers, industries, government offices, institutions, students were badly affected following the power crisis in the state.

“The state is facing 700 MW of power shortage during the peak load hours and off peak load hours against the demand of 1750 MW,” an official of Assam State Electricity Board said.

Meanwhile, Assam power minister Pradyut Bordoloirushed to North Bengal has tackled the situation.

In addition, Assam political party Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) also has filed a petition before the state human rights commission against the state government on Thursday.

Under severe power crisis, small businessmen were forced to close down their shops across the state.
