Seven NDFB(S) militants apprehended, huge cache of arms seized in Assam

Security forces apprehended seven militants belonging to National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Sangbijit) including two hardcore militants involved in the recent massacre and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Friday, police said.

Assam police IGP BTAD Dr LR Bisnoi said the army and police launched a joint operation in the Kachugaon area in the district and arrested seven NDFB(S) militants.

Security forces recovered four AK-47 rifles, one HK-33 rifle, one M-16 rifle, one insas rifle, four 9mm pistols, six magazines, 12 hand grenades, 300 rounds live ammunition from Thausiguri area near Kachugaon reserve forest in the BTAD district in a separate operation following apprehending the militants.

“Among the arrested militants were two hardcore extremists Mithinga and Khureil, involved in the recent massacre by NDFB(S) militants in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur district that left more than 80 people dead,” Dr LR Bisnoi said.
