Assam Forces Recover Huge Quantity of Explosives

Security forces recovered at least 10 kilograms RDX and arrested three hardcore cadres of anti-talk faction group of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) in Assam’s Goalpara district on Saturday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and army had launched a search operation at Dkekialkuchi area in the district along with Assam-Meghalaya border on the wee hours of Saturday and recovered the huge quantity of explosives.

“Based on our intelligence report, we were informed that a three members of the militatant group entered the district from the Garo hills side and carried huge quantity of explosive,” a police official said.

The nabbed militants were identified as Ganesh Lahan, Gakul Lahan and Dwijen Buragohain and they were hailed from Sivsagar district in upper Assam.

The Paresh Asom alias Paresh baruah led anti-talk faction group of ULFA and Garo National Liberation Army are active in Goalpara district and Garo hills area in Meghalaya.

Both militant groups have jointly set up few camps at the border areas and operated unlawful activities.

Recently security forces nabbed two ULFA militants and busted a bomb-making unit along the Assam-Meghalaya border.
