Anti-Party Activities Rock Assam Congress

Anti-party activities have dramatically changed the political scenario in Assam Congress as a section of Congress legislators arranged a closed door meeting in Guwahati on Wednesday night.

Local news channels in Assam reported that at least 24 Congress legislators participated in the closed door meeting which was held at the MLA hostel in Dispur on Wednesday night.

“Almost three-hour long meeting was held at MLA hostel and at least 24 Congress legislators have demanded to change the leadership of Assam Congress legislators,” a local news channel reported.

The section of Congress legislators prepared a memorandum addressed to Congress president Sonia Gandhi against the recent activities done by Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

Meanwhile, a senior Congress MLA Chandan Sarker denied last night activities and said there were no anti-party activities in Assam Congress.

Meanwhile, Assam CM Tarun Gogoi said he is not interested in the chief Minister post.

“If 10 Congress legislators have written a letter to the Congress president complaining about me, then I will quit,” the Assam CM said.

Assam CM added he is ready to quit from office.

“The conspiracy is not new for me. Some of leaders have been conspiring against me for long time. They had fielded a candidate in the organizational election, where I was elected as the president of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee. So I do not care for those things,” Gogoi said.
