7 Members Of Cultural Troop Killed

A road accident in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Friday claimed at least seven members of a Bihu tribe. Nine others were injured, according to a local police report.

The accident took place when two vehicles collided in the Digboi Ramnagar area of the upper Assam district of Tinsukia, in the early hours of Friday morning.

The incident happened when a truck and a Tata winger vehicle collided. The Bihu trib the winger vehicle. The incident took place at national highway when the tribe members returned after performing a cultural programme in Kakopathar area,” a police official said.

Five persons including two girls were killed at the scene of the accident and two others, who were seriously injured, succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

The injured were moved to the medical college hospital in Dibrugarh for better treatment.
