3 Civilians Hurt in Grenade Explosion in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 14: At least three civilians were injured in a grenade explosion in Indian administered Kashmir on Monday.

Police officials said suspected militants lobbed a hand grenade towards an army patrol party at Sangam chowk in South Kashmir at around 1600 hours. “The grenade, however, missed the target and exploded with a big bang, causing injuries to three civilians”.

The injured were rushed to a local hospital, where from two were referred to SKIMS, Srinagar for specialized treatment.

The injured were identified as Manzoor Ahmad Mir, Javed Ahmad Kumar and Mohammad Ashraf Shah.

A police official said immediately after the militant attack, police launched a combing and search operation in the area to flush out the militants responsible for the attack.

“The hunt to nab the attackers is on and hopefully we will be able to track them down,” he said.

No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack.
