214 Militants Killed Under Assam’s Counter-Insurgency Operation

214 militants of different militant groups were killed in Assam in the past three years under the country’s counter-insurgency operation, officials said.

Assam ADGP(Law & Order) A K Raut said during the year 2010 to 2012, at least 214 militants were killed, 16 injured and 3222 were captured during the counter insurgency operation in Assam.

“During this time, 31 security personnel, 117 civilians were killed in 790 insurgent incidents,” the Assam ADGP said.

Reports say in 2010, 215 extremists were killed in counter-insurgency operations, while 46 killed in 2011 and 53 in 2012.

During the period, security forces recovered 1247 arms, 18764 rounds ammunition, 300 IEDs, bomb and 407 hand grenades from militants.

“In 2010, security forces recovered 427 arms, 101 IEDs, bomb and 134 grenades from militants, while 377 arms, 89 IEDs, bomb and 110 grenades in 2011 and 443 arms, 110 IEDs, bomb and 163 grenades in 2012,” Assam ADGP Raut said.

Security forces also recovered Rs 12,00,98,314 from militants.
