Israel Is Not A Baby: Time for True Independence

113

Could it be that the current defensive war – Solid Rock – will turn out to be the true war of independence for Israel? Israel is no longer a baby, but she has enemies who want to destroy her by force, and friends who only meddle in her affairs.

The problem with some of Israel’s so-called friends is that they want to direct Israel to do things they would not do. It is time to say goodbye to the diaspora mentality and behavior…

As a young state 66 years ago, Israel definitely needed help and a guiding hand to take the first steps in making strategic decisions. It must have been a comfort to have the United States assisting.

That was then, this is now. Israel is 66 years old, the assistance has turned into meddling. It feels as though the time has come for real independence.

Israel’s Prime Minister seems to be looking back over his shoulder before making defensive national security decisions. He is looking to see if his unelected and sometimes unwanted mentor is giving him the nod to take the action he and his government have decided upon. The very action of doing this brings about deep hurt in the nation’s soul, and even worse, a harsh moral injury.

Israel, the only democracy in the middle east, elects her own government and Prime Minister, yet important decisions are being directed by remote hands, and the Prime Minister is being manipulated like a glove puppet.

Even before the first day of the defensive action of Operation Solid Rock, Israel was subjected to the overthinking of, “How long will the world give us this time” to handle this threat to our survival? These were explicit and immediate threats to Israel and her citizens, something that would not be tolerated if it was Cuba firing missiles into the United States. This situation is a disgrace to Israel and it is an unworkable policy.

The idea of independent thinking and independent control aside, the Obama administration has, by its actions over the past five years, repeatedly shown that its changed policy towards Israel is not based on what is best for the state or its people.

Barack Obama and his administration backed the failed Muslim Brotherhood takeover of Egypt, even past the time it was obvious this was a disaster for Egyptians and the region. That miserable failure has not tempered his policies. With his policy and actions, Obama has strengthened the enemies of America and Israel, including terrorist organizations, and he has weakened the stability of many states.

Obama is not the only so-called friend who is acting against Israel. The so-called United Nations is another anti-Israel organization that cannot be trusted to be impartial, never mind supportive.

I believe the time has come for a decisive and final War of Independence, against those who want to destroy Israel by force and it is also time for a separation from those who use their political power to weaken her.

During the 2006 second Lebanon War, Nurit Greenger, referenced then as the “Accidental Reporter” felt compelled to become an activist. Being an ‘out-of-the-box thinker, Nurit is a passionately committed advocate for Jews, Israel, the United States, and the Free World in general. From Southern California, Nurit serves as a “one-woman Hasbarah army” for Israel who believes that if you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything.
