Tehran – Damascus/Jerusalem; Iran Attempts to Draw Syria into War – 3,000 Hezbollah Fighters Trained by Tehran in Every Level of Warfare

Night Watch: TEHRAN – Debka reported that on Sunday Hezbollah fired rockets at Druze villages in the Golan, which is right along the disputed border between Syria and Israel. This is Iran’s attempt to draw Syria into the conflict. Based on combative statements from Damascus, in support of Lebanon, Syria seems to be ready.

An effective Israeli response would require attacking Hezbollah launching sites in Syrian territory near the Golan forcing Damascus into the war. This is where Iran has units in place waiting to get involved, despite repeated denials from Tehran that they have units operating with Hezbollah.

Some sources say there are 200 Iranian Revolutionary Guards in Lebanon. Debka reported the presence of Iranian units in Syria, near the disputed Golan Heights, right after Syria-Iran signed its Mutual Defense Pact last month in Tehran. The Golan Heights were seized by Israel in 1967 in order to improve their security. [DEBKA]

According to the pan-Arab daily Asharq Al-Awsat a source close to a high-ranking official in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards has stated Iran has supplied Hezbollah with 11,500 missiles of various types and projectiles. 3,000 Hezbollah fighters have been trained in Iran in guerrilla warfare, firing missiles and artillery, the use of unmaned drones, marine warfare and conventional warfare operations. 50 Hezbollah pilots have also been trained by Tehran for the past two years. I suspect the fighting will increase and the war expand, engulfing Syria and the Iranian units, just as the pace of the evacuation of Western citizens in Lebanon increases. British warships are headed to the area and the Pentagon seems to be ready to begin its evacuation plan.

A lot of the influence of London-Washington and their former ability to control events in the Middle East will depart with them. Washington will keep Israel very well supplied as an expression of its gratitude for anyone fighting terrorists anywhere.
