Ambassador Butler: Must Apologize to Iranian Political Prisoners and Families

Former political prisoner, activist of the 2009 election uprisings

“These people slaughtered Americans. They have blood on their hands.”

If you guessed that this proclamation was to persecute and reveal the Godfather of State Terrorism, responsible for numerous assassination operations in Iraq killing US marines and soldiers to be The Iranian regime, you are completely mistaken.

This was a sharp spear aiming at defenseless Ashraf dissidents -victims of ‘Iranian State Terrorism’ victims of ‘Iranian State Terrorism’ and Maliki’s inhuman massacre. The same people who are the survivors of the 1988 massacre of political prisoners by the mullahs and whose family members are now in Iranian dungeons under torture or execution.

The MEK/PMOI has been victim of a smear campaign in the US which has so far claims a bloody massacre at Camp Ashraf.

Both Khamenei and Maliki have masked their atrocities under the FTO list. The list is excellent to whitewash all the repugnant dirty laundering since the subjects involved are members of a group which is defamed as “cultish” “terrorist” “unpopular” and who have no rights even under the universal Declaration of Human Rights.

It is noteworthy the vocabulary used in quotations are marks in the article stem from the Iranian Intelligence and its lobbies.

In the biased, non journalistic and mal intended article of the New York Times, both the author and Ambassador Butler use the situation to persuade the readers that the residents in Camp Ashraf are the “demons” and ‘terrorists” and while Mr. Butler who is “shuttling” for a “humanitarian” goal and providing the “terrorists” with the best solution they reject all his efforts and wish to have the worst.

The reality, however, is utterly different.

Although there has been a practicable and long-term solution proposed by the European parliament which has the backing of 41 parliaments and senates across the world, but its implementation would certainly take ample time.

What the Ambassador denies from the readers is that, the residents have already accepted the proposal to relocate to third countries, under protection of the International Community, and not the Maliki forces that only aim to massacre them.

Another painful reality is that Ambassador Butler does not admit to similarities between the Srebrenica massacre and the looming massacre on Camp Ashraf the other side of the coin to the “subject of responsibility and obligations” which led to such shocking humanitarian catastrophes.

Instead it appears from the article he leaves two choices for the victims; either to go to “Guantanamo “or “Hawaii” to be safe!

Families of political prisoners and activists that have a hand in the Iranian social change are those who have suffered for the past 35 years and paid a heavy price to be alive today and continue to achieve what their sons and daughters and families died for. I see much similarity between our values and those of the noble past resistance fighters of the American

Independents and none in common with Mr. Butler.

Ambassador Butler should know that the MEK have never aimed at Americans not in the past, nor the presence. What is churned by the Iranian Intelligence is referring to 4 decades ago when all MEK members were in Shahs prison and a Marxist group used the situation to gain against the Shah. This like other claims’ is only propaganda rattle of the Ayatollahs against its only serious threat and antithesis: the MEK.

Ambassador Butler owes an apology to all political prisons and families of Camp Ashraf residents who have withstood the horrific moments only to attain Freedom, which is stipulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Last of all, I reflect my confidence in the good will of the United States as depicted in the spirit of Freedom. We all praised values represented by Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson.

I would like to end my words to remind Mr. Butler of the true spirit of the Americans as seen by other peoples:

“Those who deny freedom to others, deserve it not for themselves; and, under a just God, cannot long retain it.”

– Abraham Lincoln, April 6, 1859 Letter to Henry Pierce et al

“Our reliance is in the love of liberty which God has planted in our bosoms. Our defense is in the preservation of the spirit which prizes liberty as the heritage of all men, in all lands, everywhere. Destroy this spirit, and you have planted the seeds of despotism around your own doors.”

– Abraham Lincoln, September 11, 1858 Speech at Edwardsville

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government”

Thomas Jefferson, 1 Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
