World Cup: Paraguay 2-0 Slovakia, Sweet Strike Sends Paraguay Top

Paraguay and Slovakia faced each other this morning for a crucial tie in Group F.

Paraguay dominated the first half with some slick football and they took the lead before the half hour mark when Vera cooly struck the ball with the outside of his foot to spin it beyond the ‘keeper. He was taken out by the defender for his effort but the strike has certainly been one of the best so far in this competition.

Slovakia needed the win as much as their rivals but they never really got into the game and in the final minutes Paraguay extended their lead to 2-0 following a Riveros shot.

Paraguay moved to the top of the Group after the win and have cemented themselves as firm favorites to qualify along with Italy – who play later.
