Weekend Premiership Preview: The Battles for First and Fourth Heats Up

A Look Ahead to The Weekends Premiership Action

Another exciting weekend of Premiership football is just around the corner as the battle for fourth heats up and the chase for the title picks up another gear.

Manchester United are chasing down Chelsea for the title but will be tired after their midweek trip to Italy to play Milan. They will be confident after their 3-2 victory but Alex Ferguson may choose to rest some players and with a tough away game to Everton coming up on Saturday, they will need all of their star players. Chelsea also have an away game on Saturday, but the Blues will be looking for an easy three points against a struggling Wolves side.

Arsenal are behind these two in the table and technically still have a chance to pass them both. They two were involved in a European away game through the week and their side is also ravaged with injuries, but they will be hopeful of a win when they play a luckless Sunderland at home.

The biggest game on Sunday could be a strong decider for that illusive fourth spot with Manchester City at home to Liverpool. Man City are looking the more likely of the two to snatch the spot but Liverpool could change that if they are at the top of their game when they head to the City of Manchester Stadium. Tottenham have been poor recently but are still in with a chance of stealing fourth and will hope for three points away to Wigan, whilst Aston Villa will also be confident of three points when they invite Burnley to Villa Park.

On Saturday West Ham play Hull whilst Portsmouth host Stoke in two very important games which could decide the fate of the four teams involved. Stoke are sitting the highest of the four but Pompy are rock bottom and are in a desperate financial crisis, so a win could do wonders for them.

In the two other weekend games Fulham play Birmingham whilst Blackburn face Bolton, two games that will be very hard to call and very exciting to watch.
