Trump Uses Candor and Leadership to Dazzle Middle East Allies

President Donald Trump continues his historic state visit though the Middle East before going on to Europe. Although most of the media has spent months covering everything negative about the new president, the overseas trip cannot be avoided lest they be accused of one-sided press coverage.

The trip must be painful for many media covering Trump. His meetings with Saudi royalty and Israeli government officials are being hailed a smashing success. Discussions including terrorism, national security and economic trade have been on the table with all sides favorable to discussion on new approaches. All at the highest levels of the governments involved.

For eight years, the Obama administration established a policy of alienation against some of America’s traditional allies in the Middle East. Foreign policy was adrift as Obama coddled America’s traditional enemies including Iran.

In one short week, President Trump has set a new course of action within the region, rallied the Muslim world to fight terrorism and reassured our oldest Middle East allies that America is by their side against tyranny. Whereas the “Democratic Party media” may do its best to accentuate even the most minor negatives, such as the First Lady not wearing a traditional scarf, the adulation and overwhelming reception for this American president is refreshing in the eyes of a majority of Americans watching the trip unfold.

With this president, there is no mincing of words on where America stands. Trump is angry about Obama’s Iran nuclear agreement and says so outright. His astonished audience is both agreeable and appreciative of this abundance of his candor and actual substance not seen in years.

President Trump is resolved to creating an “Arab NATO.” He is building such a framework as he moves within the two polar opposites of Saudi Arabia and Israel. It is time for the Muslim world to step up and be part of ending radical Islamic terrorism and he is not afraid to say so.

Speaking on Fox News Sunday, Ret. General Jack Kean said, “Now we have a President with the Sunni Arabs, with Saudi Arabia, which is Iran’s strategic opponent in the Middle East, and we’re going to stand up against them. (The president is building) something like the framework of an Arab NATO that’s ready to be willing to counter the Iranians because they fully intend to dominate the Middle East.”

Trump is getting results because he is asking for it. No political correctness or playing both sides of the coin. He is being direct, to the point and saying exactly what is necessary for there to be real peace in the region. That peace does not include further enabling of the Iranians to subsidize terror in the Middle East and intimidate our traditional allies.

The atmosphere of mutual cooperation has been quite a change from the policies under former President Barack Obama. That includes the Saudis who have been largely excluded as Sunni Arabs, in favor of the Shiite Iranians for eight long years.

Iran is determined to dominate the Middle East to the detriment of many of America’s friendlier nations in the region. Part of Trump’s talks concern more and better arming of our allies, which is necessary to eradicate the problem of radical Islam.

That means no more false red lines and no more cowtowing to the enemies of the United States. Trump is sending the word out that America will help if they will fight. They have to hold radical Islam accountable and U.S. leadership is there to assist.

It is a long way from the media’s day to day coverage non-stop of unfounded and unproven allegations concerning Russian interference with the elections, Trump and the man in the moon. It is statesmanship and leadership that is producing results before our very eyes. It is not the headlines avowed Trump-haters wish to see, but being the “journalists” many of the accompanying media claim to be, they must cover it; if reluctantly.
