Expeditionary Civil Engineers Reenlist at their Base

Two members of the 379th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron (Readiness Flight and Logistics Hub) this afternoon reenlisted at their base in Southwest Asia.

Staff Sgt. Gildea, Senior Airman Rawus both reenlisted, dressed up in full gear for the ceremony. Maj. Davit administered the oath.

Both Staff Sgt. Gildea and Senior Airman Rawus are deployed from Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma, and the 97th Civil Engineer Squadron.

Sergeant Gildea is a native of Hingham, Massachusetts. She is the daughter of Maureen and William Gildea, who currently live in Weymouth, Massachusetts.

Airman Rawus is a native of Phoenixville, Penn. He is the son of James D. Rawus.

Technical Expertise

Alan is also a techie. His father was a British soldier in the 4th Indian Division in WWII, with Sikhs and Gurkhas. He was a sergeant in signals and after that, he was a printer who typeset magazines and books on his linotype machine. Those skills were passed on to Alan and his brothers, who all worked for Telecom Australia, on more advanced signals (communications). After studying electronics, communications, and computing at college, and building and repairing all kinds of electronics, Alan switched to programming and team building and management.
