Willis and Schwarzenegger Will Be ‘Substantial’ for ‘The Expendables 2’

The action hero trinity is set to be together again on the big screen for the second time, as Deadline reported that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis will join Sylvester Stallone in The Expendables 2.

Bruce and Arnie made cameos in last summer’s blockbuster with the former portraying the shadowy Mr. Church, who hired Sly’s Barney Ross and his team of soldiers-of-fortune to overthrow ruthless dictator General Garza in South America. Arnold played Trent Mauser, a rival mercenary who passed on the job and decided to let Barney have it because his “friend” loves to play in the jungle.

According to Deadline, both veteran action icons are going to have “substantial” roles in the follow-up, which will also have returning stars Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and Jet Li, who are rumored to come back. Also rumored to be in the sequel are original Robocop Peter Weller and Walker, Texas Ranger himself Chuck Norris, but it has been officially confirmed this past summer that Jean-Claude Van Damme has sign on for The Expendables 2, which won’t be the only sequel Willis is working on.

He is set to reprise his signature role of wisecracking, working-class NYPD heroic cop John McClane in Die Hard 5, which will be shot in Russia. Willis is then going to follow that up with a sequel to last fall’s Red, the action-comedy hit based on the comic-book series. He is currently shooting G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation, which is set to be release next June.

The Governator known as “Ah-nold” is beginning production on the action-thriller The Last Stand from Korean director Jee-woon Kim, where he plays a disgraced LAPD cop turned border sheriff who must take on an escaped Mexican drug cartel; the film is set to come out in January 2013.

The Expendables 2 will start shooting next month, and is set to come out in theaters on August 17, 2012.
