CBS Begins Early Stages of ‘NCIS’ Spin-Off Produced By Mark Harmon

Though it had tough competition against Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., NCIS remains the most-watched show with 19.5 million viewers.

Now, star and executive producer Mark Harmon is gearing up for more NCIS, as he and fellow executive producer Gary Glasberg are in the works of developing another spin-off of television’s #1 show – this time, in New Orleans.

Like what happened with NCIS: Los Angeles four years ago, there will be a NCIS two-parter also serving as a backdoor pilot for the potential series. Shooting will begin February 2014 and will air sometime next spring.

There was a recent attempt of launching another NCIS back in mid-March with the NCIS: LA two-parter entitled “Red”, with Kim Raver and John Corbett as part of a team of mobile agents solving crimes across America; “NCIS: Red” wasn’t ordered for series.

Season 10 of NCIS and season four of NCIS: Los Angeles are available on DVD.
