505 People Die From AIDS Related Illness in Assam

505 people were reportedly died from AIDS related causes in Assam, accordign to Assam Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday.

During a programme held in Guwahati on Friday, the Assam minister said there are identitifed 14000 HIV/AIDS infected patient in the state

“The state government and Assam State AIDS Control society had been taken up few programmes for awareness of HIV/AIDS,” the minister said.

Meanwhile, the Assam state government on Friday has announced financial assistance of rupees one lakh each to 150 widows of HIV/AIDS affected.

The Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi also inaugurated a special care home for the HIV/AIDS affected children.

“We will provide facilities and care to the children in the special care home,” the Assam CM said.

In addition, the Assam government will give financial assistance to all 320 widows whose husbands died of AIDS in the state by March 31 of next year.

Several organizations including Assam State AIDS Control Society, Assam Network of Positive People have launched awareness programme of HIV/AIDS as well.
