Time to Cut Through Campaign Rhetoric

Highly Vulnerable Incumbent President

The re-election campaign for a highly vulnerable incumbent president has gone into full attack mode on the Republican opponent. Instead of talking up the president’s virtues and what he has accomplished the last four years, it’s attack the creditability of his candidate, Mitt Romney.

The president’s re-election spin doctors figure the American people are gullible enough to buy into their description of his opponent – A successful businessman and former governor of Massachusetts they paint as a greedy capitalist and political hypocrite.

Political Propaganda From Desperate Campaign

There’s no telling how much of this political propaganda from a desperate campaign willing to do almost anything to stay off pressing issues of a failing economy and high unemployment will do.

But if the last few months have been any indicator of their desperation, the worst is yet to come.

Will voters actually take the Obama’s campaign rhetoric as the God’s truth, or will they have an open mind and see Mitt Romney for the man he truly is – the resume he brings to this critical time in our history.

Professional Background

Here is the unbridled truth of the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s professional background:

After going to both Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School simultaneously, he passed the Michigan bar, but never worked as an attorney.

As a venture-capitalist, Romney’s first major business deal involved investing in a start-up office supply company with one store in Massachusetts that sold office supplies. That company, called Staples, now has over 2,000 stores and employs over 90,000 people.

Romney, or his company Bain Capital, using what became known as the “Bain Way,” would go on to perform the same kind of business miracles again and again. Companies like Domino’s, Sealy, Brookstone, Weather Channel, Burger King, Warner Music Group, Dollarama, Home Depot Supply, and many others would be their portfolio of success a job-makers.

In Summary of This Man’s Background:

– Volunteer campaign worker for his dad’s (George Romney) gubernatorial campaign – one year

– Unpaid intern in Governor’s office – eight years.

– Mormon missionary in Paris – two years.

– Unpaid bishop and state president for his church – ten years.

– No salary as president of the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics – three years.

– Took no salary as Massachusetts governor -four years.

– A total of 28 years of unpaid service to his country, his community and his church.

It should also be noted that in 2011, Mitt Romney and his family gave over $4 million to charity – almost 19 percent of his income while Barack Obama gave one percent.

Then there’s Joe Biden, Romney’s biggest and most boisterous attack dog on Bain Capital who gave $300 or .0013%.

Isn’t this what is truly termed character? Mitt Romney may not be the best representative the Republicans could have selected, but isn’t this a far cry from what we have witnessed the last four years?

Principle and Character

A man totally upfront about his religion, is love of country, refusal to play second fiddle to any foreign power, bow to any foreign leader or waste millions of taxpayer dollars on lavish holidays, while at the same time accusing fellow Americans of “not paying their fair share.” The very same people (“the top one-percent”) who pay the overwhelming portion of the income taxes in the country.

A pandering hypocrite Mitt Romney is definitely not.

US Financial Debacle

He has the experience needed to fix this financial debacle the present administration has gotten us into. There is no more time to continuously blame others for the last four years. We need leadership and principle to guide this country through troubled waters. An administration of responsibility and fiscal vision.

Hope and change (real change for the better) has been anything but that.

This nation will not like all the things necessary to recover from this horrendous debt. But it’s apparent Romney has the background, character and experience to lead us out of this mess.

He has never been a community organizer, never took drugs or got drunk. He has never openly associated with Communists or known terrorists. Nor did he attend a church whose pastor called for God to damn the U.S.

Think Long and Hard

It is time for this country to think hard about the path they wish to take and who they want leading us.
