Long time NewsBlaze writer, Ernest Dempsey, introduced to us by Judyth Piazza, editor of NewsBlaze, The Student Operated Press and The American Perspective, celebrates his American Birthday.

Born in Pakistan, Ernest is a a writer, author and journalist who celebrates life and freedom. Ernest is obviously glad to be in the US, as evidenced by his letter, below.

Thank you for being a friend, Ernest, and best wishes for the future.

Hi everyone,

I am 37 now, and today is my first birthday in the US. Whew! (Question: Am I old, or am I gold?)

My stay in this country has been so wonderful that it’s hard to start describing it but I sit here in my room with only 6 dollars (8 if you count the coins in the cup) and feeling happy and free. Am my own proof that money isn’t happiness in itself. Other things count – and for me freedom is the ultimate happiness, and being in a place that respects your freedom is no less than a paradise.

I met a few of you after arriving in the US – Tom and Larisa (special thanks to Denise Carey-Costa who is my American twin and my visit to Florida this summer was the best gift I ever could think of in my life. It was fantaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabulous!) and really I do want to meet the rest of you in person. It will happen I think at the right time.

My love to you all and best wishes. Thank you for being so supportive and so caring. You folks have literally spoiled me and I still feel like a 7 year old who can just hop onto his family’s shoulders and say “carry me”! 🙂

best wishes,

Ernest
