Appeal to The Nobler Motives

I read an article the other day when the voting for GOP was going on in the Mississippi and Alabama. A prominent religious leader in the south, made a statement that appeared to me, to be about the dumbest statement I have ever heard. His remark was something to this effect. If Mr. Romney wants the south to vote for him then he should renounce is membership in that abominable church, meaning the Mormon Church, or as the official church name states it, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Those better than thou southerners have some real soul searching to go through before they ever get to the point where they accept any and all people as children of God. Just a few short years ago, 60 years anyway, these same people hated the blacks because they were different and of a lower class than the whites. In the earlier years after the Civil War they owned blacks and treated them as cattle. Then when the civil war raged they killed and raped them and destroyed black families. In the sixties they still killed some and fought the idea that all people are equal and resisted change. Now somewhere or somehow, in their nature they believe they have to be better than others or they can’t exist. The claim to be Christians and they love the Lord. But wasn’t it the Lord who told all people to love everyone? He didn’t say to love only the whites or those who believe as you believe, but He said “Love one another.”

He, Christ was asked which is the greatest commandment in the law. His reply was simple;”thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul and all thy mind, this is the first; and the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thy self.” If we in this nation lived by this we would all be equal and have the great blessing of the Lord poured upon us, but instead we hate anyone who is different. They, the Mormons, love their God as much as you love the one God you believe in. When will we ever learn how to treat others as brothers and sisters and put away the things of this world, hate, envy, riches, pride, want of luxury and other things that take us away from the good in life? The Lord tells us in his sermons how to treat one another and why.

If the better than thou Preachers of religion don’t stop putting hate into the hearts of the people, maybe God will have his revenge. He expects people, who profess his name to love, live, and testify, He is their one and only God. Not find fault with others who differ with your standards or ideals or mode of belief. His is not a religion of strife, envy, hate, but a religion of peace and love for one another. Stop this stupid attack on a people who love God as much as any man can. God so love the world that he gave the world His begotten Son, not to put hate into the souls of man but to redeem man from his sins. How can any person who believes in Jesus Christ develop hate and envy of others for the sake of being right?

What gives anyone the right to tell someone else they are fools?

If a person believes in God and in Christ and his belief, faith, and good works help him become a better person then what is the problem? If he is honest, trust worthy and not a liar how can anyone tell him to reject his belief and change his life just to satisfy your desire or need for a certain type of God…
