The 86th Annual Academy Awards Nominations

Actor Chris Hemsworth and Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs announced the nominations for the 86th Academy Awards on January 16th, 2014. Mr. Hemsworth and Ms. Boone Isaacs announced the nominees at a 5:38 a.m. Pacific Time live news conference attended by more than 400 international media representatives.

Academy members from each of the branches vote to determine the nominees in their respective categories - actors nominate actors, film editors nominate film editors, etc. In the Animated Feature Film and Foreign Language Film categories, nominees are selected by a vote of multi-branch screening committees. All voting members are eligible to select the Best Picture nominees.

Official screenings of all motion pictures with one or more nominations will begin for members on Saturday, January 25, at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Screenings also will be held at the Academy's Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood and in London, New York and the San Francisco Bay Area. Active members of the Academy are eligible to vote for the winners in all categories.

Anne Hathaway to Present Oscar® Sunday

Oscar winner Anne Hathaway will present at this year's Oscars®, show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced this week.
Anne Hathaway won last year's Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance in "Les Misérables." She was previously nominated for her leading role in the 2008 film "Rachel Getting Married." Anne Hathaway, who made her feature film debut in 2001's "The Princess Diaries," has starred in films including "Ella Enchanted," "The Devil Wears Prada" and "The Dark Knight Rises."

Daniel Day-Lewis to Return To Present On Oscar Sunday
Three-time Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis will also return to present at this year's Oscars, show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron also announced this week.

Winning for the title role in last year's "Lincoln," Daniel Day-Lewis has also been nominated for five Oscars in the lead actor category. His previous wins were for the 2007 film "There Will Be Blood" and 1989's "My Left Foot." He also received nominations for his starring roles in "Gangs of New York" (2002) and "In the Name of the Father" (1993).

Jennifer Lawrence to Present at The Oscars
Oscar® winner Jennifer Lawrence will also return to present at this year's Oscars, show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced this week. The Oscars, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, will air on Sunday, March 2, live on ABC.

Jennifer Lawrence took home the Oscar for her lead performance in "Silver Linings Playbook." She is nominated this year for her supporting role in "American Hustle." Previously Lawrence was nominated for her leading role in "Winter's Bone." Her other credits include "X-Men: First Class" and "The Hunger Games" series.

Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2013 will be presented on Oscar Sunday, March 2, at the Dolby Theatre® at Hollywood & Highland Center and televised live on the ABC Television Network. The Oscars, produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.
