Karbi Anglong: New Resolutions Adopted for Separate State

Diphu: 'The Hills State Democratic Party' adopted several resolutions today and decided its future course of agitation for achieving complete separate state for Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao district today in a meeting held at its party office in Diphu. In the nine point resolution the party never mentioned about autonomous state, the all party delegation of elected members of both Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao autonomous council which met the Prime Minister yesterday also demanded a separate state comprising Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao autonomous district.
Curfew was loosen in all three urban areas of the district today, however night curfew will continue in Diohu. In spite of normal situation in Diphu town banks and financial establishment remained closed due to the 12 days Karbi Angling strike forced by the ultra outfit KPLT. Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong p. Buragohain today appealed to all section of people to maintain peace and harmony during the festival of Idd in a meeting of leading citizens today.
Ex. President of Assam Sahitya Sabha, Dr. Rongbong Terang expressed his shock and anguish over the interdict imposed on medical and essential services by the ultra organisation KPLT since last Monday.
"I have not experienced in my lifetime that patients are forced to desert hospitals and sanction imposed on medical service during second world war or throughout successive wars; other ultra organizations like KLNLF, UPDS, ULFA also forced strike in Karbi Anglong but essential services always remained out of the strike's ambit, I appeal them to reconsider their decision" Rongbong Terang said to the media.
