Las Vegas Mesmerized By Public Display of Violence and Fiery Mayhem!

By     get stories by email

Helicopter cam shots on the Las Vegas Strip show vehicle wreckage strewn about, resembling a war-zone bombing in Iraq (2005). The driver of a (silver) Maserati, Kenneth Cherry or Kenneth Clutch was shot to death while driving down the strip, by assailants in a brand new black Range Rover.

The shooting and multiple car crash occurred around 4:30 AM; a cab that collided with the Maserati, caught on fire and both the cab driver and a passenger perished in the fiery mayhem!

Careful reconstructions are under way by the Las Vegas Police Department, since exactly what went down is anybody's guess. As I review a plethora of news footage and cell phone film, captured by startled bystanders, confusion reigns supreme!

Additional reviews brings the dramatically violent incident slightly more into focus. The seed of the roving gun battle, was apparently an argument of some kind in the valet parking area of the Aria Hotel.

The nature of the row is unknown, but we must assume, after these men in the black Range Rover got angry at this flashy character of a rapper, going (at times) by the pseudonym of Kenneth Clutch, they followed him out of the Aria, then fired into his Maserati as he was driving through traffic.

Once Clutch was shot, his car continued to move unattended, and naturally began to crash with several unsuspecting vehicles. The exact sequence of these multiple collisions is a mystery to me, but may be sorted out by investigators (eventually).

Clearly, there were quite a few eyewitnesses; moreover, there's a plethora of photographic evidence, much of this footage was shot in real time. Well, maybe film evidence doesn't originate as far back as the precise time the gun was fired off from the black Range Rover, which escaped the scene before the full nature of the nexus of crashes completely unfolded.

Authorities believe the Rover was out-of-state; the license plates were still paper, so the car was brand new.

And who was Kenneth Cherry? Was he a pimp? How did he get enough money to drive a Maserati? Was he in some kind of deal with these black men? Did the deal go south? What caused these men to get so angry?

Or was it maybe only one man who got angry and who also did the shooting? Was Clutch operating a prostitute ring? What does the Las Vegas Police know about Cherry being a pimp? Has he ever been arrested?

6 vehicles were involved in the early morning crash-up, at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road; four other cars were involved, besides the Maserati and the ill-fated cab. I even saw one white service truck lodged eschew on the curb, and wondered how this truck ended up in the way it did.

This outburst of violence and conflagration hits right in the heart of the gambling raucous of Las Vegas; nearby are Caesars Palace, Bellagio, Bally's, and the Flamingo (four of Nevada's largest casinos).

Recently, Las Vegas is witness to an increase of violence; however, recent violence pales in comparison to this scene, which more resembles a dramatic climax from a Bruce Willis Die Hard movie, for sheer maelstrom of confusion and blistery pandemonium!

A Las Vegas February is visited by two prior crimes of violence: a tourist attack at Mandalay Bay on Feb. 16th, and two people were shot in a Las Vegas Boulevard parking garage on Feb. 6th. Will this adversely effect an apparently burgeoning tourist business (after the devastating 2008 recession)?

Who was Ken Cherry? Who are the men in the black Range Rover? What is the cause of their violent altercation with Clutch?
