Giant Statue of Peeing Dog a Hit With Art Lovers

By   get stories by email

"A giant sculpture of a dog peeing on the Orange County Museum of Art in California isn't a prank, it's art. A new sculpture of a dog towers over the outside wall of the museum with his leg up in the air. Yellow paint sprays out of the sculpture, hitting the wall."

Artist Richard Jackson calls his unique work of art "Bad Dog", but the oversized pooch is a hit with art lovers.

Many people never darken the door of a museum; they walk by prestigious museums on their way to work or play, without ever considering taking the time to appreciate the masterpieces on display.

But this innovative artist has brought art outside on the street, where the humongous canine simply can't be ignored. You don't have to pay a fee or get all dressed up to view the Bad Dog.

The Bad Dog isn't just a work of art; he's also an art critic. You don't have to be a rocket scientist or an art major to interpret the Bad Dog's action. By peeing on the museum wall, he is stating that he is a greater work of art than all the paintings and sculptures inside the museum.

Kudos to Jackson for his accessible, playful, delightful and charming work of art.
