Clear Skies for a Cuddly Valentine's Day

AccuWeather reports couples throughout most of the nation can expect a clear and calm Valentine's Day.

A snowstorm, which is expected to impact the Northeast on Wednesday, will move offshore on Thursday, according to AccuWeather Expert Senior Meteorologist Bernie Rayno.

"It will be relatively tranquil for the Northeast," Rayno said. Partly to mostly sunny skies are in store for most areas.

Temperatures in the Northeast will be close to normal for mid-February, including in the major I-95 cities.

Boston and New York City can expect highs in the lower to mid- 40s. New York City could experience some snow showers Wednesday night before clearing for Valentine's Day, according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Tom Kines.

Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Baltimore will have highs in the mid- to upper 40s. Buffalo, Cleveland and Detroit are predicted to be in the mid-30s.

Rayno said that the Southeast will be wet through Wednesday on the southern edge of the Northeast snow. However, drying will occur by Thursday.

Temperatures in Dallas and Atlanta will reach 3-6 degrees above normal. This could be the perfect opportunity to take your someone special out for a walk to enjoy the pleasant weather.

A movie night may be the best Valentine's Day date for lovers in Florida, as thunderstorms and showers will occupy much of the state on Thursday.

The weather in the Southwest will be decent as well, with at or above-normal temperatures in Los Angeles. If you are planning a date night or stroll outside, keep in mind that it may be a little windy through canyons and valleys in California.

Snow showers may impact the Upper Midwest on Wednesday night and into Valentine's Day. Cuddling by a warm fire is recommended. This weak storm should not impact major cities like Detroit and Chicago, according to Rayno.

Lovers in the Rockies may want to plan a date night skiing or drinking hot cocoa indoors as snow may play a role in Valentine's Day activities and may disrupt travel. Colder air and snow showers will move through the Rockies late in the day on Thursday that may impact Great Falls, Casper and Denver.

Couples in the Pacific Northwest, such as Portland and Seattle, can expect temperatures in the lower to mid-50s with cloudy skies and a possible shower or two, according to Kines.
