Condor Escapes in Arena Before Hockey Game

By   get stories by email

"Video of a California minor league hockey team's mascot, a condor, attempting escape during the national anthem has become a hit online."
Minor league teams, from all sports, engage in all kinds of crazy antics and promotions to fill the seats. There have been many cases of promotions gone awry, but this one really takes the cake.

The viral video depicts the Bakersfield Condor's condor escaping from her handler during the singing of the national anthem prior to the start of a hockey game.

The lady singing the national anthem gets an "F" for talent, but an "A" for courage, she kept her composure while the condor skidded on the ice and flew all around her.

The same can't be said for some of the macho hockey players, who fled in panic from the huge bird.

Thank goodness the nickname of the Bakersfield hockey team wasn't the "Tigers", if a tiger escaped from his handler in a hockey arena it wouldn't have been a pretty sight.
