Hello Kitty Goes To Outer Space?

By   get stories by email

"A seventh-grader in California said she sent her Hello Kitty doll into near space in a fake rocket attached to a weather balloon for her school project.

Lauren Rojas, a 13-year old from Antioch, said she wanted to test the effects of altitude on the balloon's air pressure and temperature. To record the journey, she attached cameras to the rocket and then fastened it to the balloon.

Hello Kitty went along for the ride in the rocket just for fun, the New York Daily News reported."

I'm sure there are a lot of parents who would love to send their daughters' Hello Kitty dolls, posters, purses, and lunch boxes to outer space.

Little girls seem obsessed with Hello Kitty, unfortunately so do a lot of grown women who will buy just about any Hello Kitty fashion accessory.

It's great that this young girl is interested not only in Hello Kitty but in science as well, I hope she grows up to be an astronaut or a rocket scientist.

Lauren included the Hello Kitty doll in her science project "just for fun"; we all need a bit of whimsy in our lives. I hope there's at least one astronaut in the International Space Station who sleeps in Honey Boo Boo pajamas.
