Chris Culliver's Anti-Gay Comments
"Shock jock Artie Lange revealed he had interviewed Chris Culliver at media day Tuesday and aired a segment on his show that night, where the player insisted that any gay players would not be welcome on the team.
'I don't do the gay guys man,' said Culliver, whose Niners play the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. 'I don't do that. No, we don't got no gay people on the team, they gotta get up out of here if they do.
'Can't be with that sweet stuff. Nah...can't be...in the locker room man. Nah.'"
You would hardly expect a San Francisco 49ers player to express such ignorant, homophobic and disturbing comments. If these Neanderthal thoughts emanate from a player who lives in the Gay Mecca of the United States, it's a sign that bigotry and homophobia are rampant in the NFL.
Methinks the lady doth protest too much. Lange asked Culliver if there were any gay guys in the Niners, and Culliver responded by declaring, " I don't do the gay guys man." Dude, the shock jock wasn't asking if you are gay, why so defensive? Maybe Culliver, who has an effeminate look about him, needs to come out of the closet.
"No, we don't got no gay people on the team", Culliver assured Lange. Culliver wanted to make sure that everyone understood that aren't any gay Niners players, that he employed a triple negative to make his point.
I'm sure gay Niners are as common as grammar-challenged players. As a 49ers fan I could care less if Culliver and several of his teammates are down with that "sweet stuff", all I care about is how they play on the field.
