Olympian Tour

The tour included water polo champion Petri and three other Olympic athletes - Greco-Roman wrestler Rulon Gardner and rowing teammates Erin Carfaro and Susan Francia.

"I got to meet all four medalists," said Barmaki. "This is fabulous. I watched the London Olympic Games last year and remember when Rulon Gardner beat the Russian in the 2000 games."

The quartet of Olympians toured Afghanistan for nearly 10 days meeting with service members.

"The troops here give us the opportunity to do what we do," Petri said. "After all the service members sign my flag, it will connect us. We are all Team U.S.A."

One of Deriemacker's favorite training pieces is the mass casualty training because they are able to apply all they have learned in one scenario.
