Air Force Tech. Sgt. Bardia Barmaki autographs Olympic gold medalist Heather Petri's Team U.S.A flag during a USO morale tour here Jan. 19.
The tour included water polo champion Petri and three other Olympic athletes - Greco-Roman wrestler Rulon Gardner and rowing teammates Erin Carfaro and Susan Francia.
"I got to meet all four medalists," said Barmaki. "This is fabulous. I watched the London Olympic Games last year and remember when Rulon Gardner beat the Russian in the 2000 games."

The quartet of Olympians toured Afghanistan for nearly 10 days meeting with service members.
"The troops here give us the opportunity to do what we do," Petri said. "After all the service members sign my flag, it will connect us. We are all Team U.S.A."

Problems addressed by the students included topics such as the correlation between sleep and grades, eye color and the ability to see colors, or the effects of genetically modified organisms.
It can be difficult to give time, money and resources, but Soldiers in a local Army unit manage to do all that for a good cause.
Both Soldiers were attending a funeral for a fellow combat veteran when an accident occurred at a nearby intersection. They heard the crash while outside the funeral and immediately went into action.
Candidates for the SAMC spent numerous hours committing themselves in preparing for the board proceedings. Being a member of the SAMC is about being a strong disciplined leader that positively represents the U.S. Army.
The South Carolina National Guardsmen performed tasks on the Avenger Trainer and Stinger Training. This completed the second phase of their four phase training exercise to validate the unit for their deployment.
