The LGBT community took note of 7-year-old Alana Thompson's (and her family's) open attitude about Uncle Poodle's sexuality. On Wednesday, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo along with Glee, Modern Family, The New Normal, Happy Endings and Go On were listed as GLAAD Media Awards nominees."
Honey Boo Boo's pearl of wisdom resonates more with average folks than a psychologist's thesis arguing that homosexuality is normal.
The arc of Western history is definitely moving towards acceptance of gays and lesbians, for every elderly person who considers homosexuality abnormal or immoral there are thousands of young people who think that "ain't nothing wrong with being a little gay."
Say what you will about Honey Boo Boo's family, but they don't tolerate racism or homophobia. Every family has an Uncle Poodle; I hope that your family will love your Uncle Poodle as much as Honey Boo Boo loves hers.
