Bob Pappas: An Open Letter from the Loyal Opposition, Part I

Fifth, I am opposed to Obama's socialist agenda with every ounce of my being. In my opinion socialism is almost the worst form of theft, communism being the worst and both are as bad if not worse than armed robbery. Socialism in the United States would be no better than it is in Russia, China, or any other socialist country no matter how well intentioned the proponents. Both ideologies ultimately devolve to tyranny of a minority, not necessarily wealthy but who like all dictators acquire massive wealth.

One understands why you would assert that I don't tell the truth, since it grows out of a central premise of the left that it is good to lie. So, you and virtually all leftist assume that lying is a normal and a good way to argue...and that everyone does it. News Flash! I don't subscribe to that attitude despite the certifiable fact that it is widely accepted in Democrat circles as normal. If you can point out one...repeat, one misstatement, misinformation or certifiable lie...I will both apologize and recant to all readers, not just you alone. You cannot because I use facts, analyze them, and then base my opinions on those facts. Evidently, you consider opinions that vary from your own, a lie.

Sixth, We evidently have differing views of the "American Dream" mine is about freedom enshrined in the Constitution, yours is evidently the stale calm of utopia sought by those who offer nothing and survive at the hand of government largesse which is derived from those who work and pay taxes.

Seventh, my statements and positions "undermine my patriotic service?" What a disgusting statement...I earned the right to express my opinions! What did you do to earn yours, survive on unemployment and welfare your entire life? (Since this writing initially I learned that the correspondent taught autistic children and adults for 38 years...a noble endeavor that deserves applause.)

Eighth, I actually appreciate your admonition that I seek peace. One struggles for Peace in this life and about thirty five years ago I found the Peace that passes understanding...I wish you the best in finding it. You might consider checking out Jesusrealpeace.com for more on Peace.

Ninth, "you served your entire country, not just the ones who look and think like you." Given that you are evidently a democrat I understand that's the Party line. For your information, my bride is of Spanish heritage; one of my best friends, if not the best is a black, retired Army Colonel-democrat for whom I would give my life if necessary; one of my nephews, who I love dearly is a full blood Korean and world class professional photographer; for twenty years I have successfully mentored a Vietnamese immigrant who I found penniless and now is married, has two beautiful children, owns about half a block and a flourishing business; I am working with a Chinese family to advance both their business and their son's aspiration to enter one of the service academies; I lived in Japan for five of my thirty years of military service and love the Japanese people who are industrious and honest; and personally, I am of Greek, American Indian, English, Scottish, and German heritage. I am an American!

None of the foregoing (except the obvious) look like me and I assure you do not share my every opinion...although most are smart enough to "get it." So, what is it you were saying about looking like me that gives you the impression that I care one whit about the color of one's skin or whether or not they think like me?

As for how I think...it is based on reality combined with life's experiences; a little bit of education, constant prayer and my understanding of God's Word as contained in the Holy Bible and, this last admonishes, "Let every man work out his own salvation with fear and trembling." I do that, and hope you too will consider it a good idea.
