Women's Memorial to Observe Veterans Day 2012

Women's Memorial Observes Veterans Day The 15th annual Women's Memorial Veterans Day ceremony will begin at 3:00 p.m., Nov. 11, 2012. The ceremony, one of the major observances in the nation's capital, is free and open to the public and will include formal military honors, a keynote address, veterans' remarks, and a wreath laying.

Delivering this year's keynote address is Ms. Gabriele P. M. Tyler,Deputy Director of Transition Strategic Outreach, Industry and Soldier Connection for the U.S. Army. A woman veteran herself, she is responsible for oversight of the Army's employment and transition programs for Soldiers and Family members. Five servicewomen, one from each military service, will join Ms. Tyler, in paying tribute to the nation's military veterans.

The Women In Military Service For America Memorial is the nation's only major memorial honoring all servicewomen, past, and present. Featuring an exhibit gallery, theatre, Register of women who have served and a gift shop, the Memorial is open to the public, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily.
