Dentists Offering Kids Cash For Halloween Candy To Benefit Soldiers
"More than 1,000 dentists across the country are participating in the Halloween Candy Buy-Back program, which is run by the non-profit Operation Gratitude, U-T San Diego reported. The buy-back program offers children the opportunity to switch their extra Halloween candy for cash or coupons. Operation Gratitude then sends those candies to troops overseas - along with other items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste."
If I were a dentist I would reward every kid who didn't have any cavities by giving him a huge bag of candy. I certainly wouldn't bribe children to t urn in their Halloween treats; candy is a dentist's best friend.
I fail to understand the logic of Operation Gratitude, it's OK for our warriors to eat enamel-destroying candy, but not OK for children?
I guess soldiers have bigger worries, than getting a cavity or gaining a few pounds.
But I am in favor of any program that lets our troops know that we love and care about them. Holidays are a time for good cheer, and we shouldn't forget to also spread good cheer to our brave men and women serving in the armed forces. Send a care package to a loved one in the military; let's show our soldiers how grateful we are for their service to our country.
