Three NDFB Militants Killed in Assam Encounter

Three hardcore cadres of anti-talk faction group of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) were killed in a gun battle with security forces in Assam's Goalpara district on Friday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and army launched a search operation at Krishnai area in the district along with Assam-Meghalaya border on Friday morning.

"We were informed, a militant group was hiding at the area. When we reached the area, the militant group started to fire and bullets were exchenged," a police official said.

Three militants were killed on the spot.

Security forces recovered one AK-56 rifle with three magazines, one 9mm pistol with two magazines, two hand grenades and ammunitions in possession of slain militants.

Among the slain militants, two were identified as Anirudha Basumutary and Ajoy Basumutary.

Police claimed that the killed militants were involved in few extortion cases in the area.
