Middle School Student Suspended For Dyeing Hair Pink
"Officials in a Delaware school district said a girl who was suspended last week for dyeing her hair pink is being allowed to return to class.
Brianna Moore, 12, a sixth-grader at Shue-Medill Middle School in Newark, was allowed to dye her hair pink as a reward for good grades last week, and she was suspended Thursday for violating a school policy banning 'excessive hair colors.'" UPI
This news item is making me see red, why on Earth is there a school policy banning students from dyeing their hair pink, blue and red?
Our schools should be instilling the values of liberty and freedom in our children, this ridiculous policy is teaching them that they are serfs who must obey every whim of school officials.
Brianna is a good egg, and she should be allowed to dye her hair all the colors of the rainbow, if such is her wish.
The reversal came only after the ACLU intervened on behalf of Brianna -- God bless the ACLU!
