Mainsail Adds Private Equity Veteran and Technology Expert to Bolster Investment and Operations Teams

Mainsail Partners (www.mainsailpartners.com), a leading growth equity firm focused on investing in bootstrapped companies, today announced it has added two seasoned executives to its growing team of investment professionals and operations experts. Stephen Wolfe has joined Mainsail as Principal and Taylor McKinley as Vice President of Technology & Operations. In addition, Joe Mandato has agreed to join the firm as a Senior Advisor. Mainsail is also pleased to announce the promotions of Kyle Hency and Sheldon Lewis to Senior Associate. These changes to the team will support Mainsail's strategy of investing in bootstrapped businesses and accelerating growth through active operational and strategic involvement.

"We are thrilled to announce the addition of these three talented and successful executives to the Mainsail team," said Jason Payne, Managing Partner at Mainsail. "Stephen, Taylor and Joe each bring a unique set of skills and perspective to Mainsail, building on our already strong team of operators and investors. Their senior leadership and expertise will allow Mainsail to scale as we continue to execute against our strategy."

  • In his role as Principal, Stephen Wolfe will lead Mainsail's efforts in sourcing, executing and managing new investments. Prior to joining Mainsail, Stephen worked at Vector Capital a leading global private equity firm. While at Vector, Stephen was responsible for sourcing three investments, representing approximately $300 million of equity capital.

  • Taylor McKinley will work with Mainsail's portfolio companies to drive improvements in product development, pricing and technology implementation. Prior to joining Mainsail, Taylor managed software products at Fortify Software, which was later acquired by Hewlett Packard (HP). During his six years at Fortify and HP, Taylor ran the Software as a Service (SaaS) product line, the mobile technology product line, and pricing strategy and implementation for all products.

  • Joe Mandato has more than 25 years of experience as a successful CEO and company-builder. Joe will provide strategic guidance and mentorship in the areas of value creation, leadership and execution for Mainsail's CEOs and management teams. He has led ten investments in medical device and technology companies spanning a broad range of specialties. He has also served as CEO of several successful operating companies, including two leveraged buyouts.

"We are fortunate to have this caliber of talent joining the Mainsail team," said Gavin Turner, Managing Partner at Mainsail. "Taylor and Joe both bring extensive company-building experience, including success building teams, launching new products and growing revenues at start-ups, as well as enterprise businesses. Stephen's track record of successfully sourcing and closing large deals brings another dimension to our investment team."

Sheldon Lewis and Kyle Hency joined Mainsail Partners in 2009. Their promotion to Senior Associate follows their success in sourcing and executing new investments. Sheldon and Kyle played integral roles on the investment teams of PayLease, Steelwedge and Home Health Services.
