Romantics Sad, Post Office In Valentine, Texas To Close
By Robert Paul Reyes
"Romantics wanting a special Valentine's Day postmark from the town of Valentine, Texas, may soon be out of luck, as the Postal Service downsizes, officials say.
About 20,000 Valentines have been sent for processing to the tiny post office this year, among about a half million since the tradition started more than 30 years ago, but the Valentine post office is one of many in western Texas targeted for closure in a cost-saving attempt." UPI
The postal system is an anachronism is this age of instant communication via Internet, email and text messages. I don't shed a tear over the closure of a post office, not even a special one like the one in Valentine, Texas.
Valentine's Day is as outdated a concept as the postal service, and the folks crying over the closure of the post office in Valentine need to get a life.
I don't rely on the postal system, I pay my bills online. And I don't believe in lavishing the ladies with candy, flowers and jewels on Valentine's Day. You don't see women giving guys porn DVD's, tickets to sports events, and chocolate for Valentine's Day.
Bah humbug, the postal system the United States Postal Service and Valentine's Day suck.
